Drop in Drawing
Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. beginning September 15th. Teens aged 12 and up can drop by the Teen Space to join with others who enjoy drawing. Supplies will be provided, or participants may bring their own.
E-book and E-audiobook Download Demos
Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. Did you know you can borrow e-books and e-audiobooks from the library? All you need is an Internet connection and a library card. Demonstrations will be held at the Reference Desk on the second floor of the Library.
Are you new to downloading e-books or audiobooks? Set up a one-on-one appointment with a staff member to learn how easy it is to find and check out these items. Please be sure to bring your own tablet, smartphone, or laptop and e-reader.

Saturday, May 25th at 2:00 p.m. Set in Prince edward Island in the 19th century and based on a story told by the author's grandmother about her own grandparents, Mattie's Story relates a year in the life of Mattie Cameron, a descendant of the Selkirk Settlers who first came to the Island in 1803.

Call for Volunteers
For the first time ever, the Public Library Service and the Newcomers Association are offering in-class tutor training in Summerside! If you, or anyone you know, would like to be a volunteer tutor for a newcomer to Canada and take your training in Summerside, please contact Valerie (valerie @ peianc.com) or Trina (toleggott @ gov.pe.ca).
The sessions will take place at St. Mary's Convent on Tuesday June 11th and Thursday June 13th from 6:00 – 9:00pm, and wrap up Saturday June 15th from 9:00am–3:00pm.
All training materials and a great lunch will be provided on Saturday, and refreshments will be served during the evening sessions as well.
The new tutors will meet their learners on Saturday afternoon. After that, we ask that the tutors meet with their learners once a week for about 2 hours, and that they continue in the program for a minimum 6 months.
