Book Club in a Bag
Book Club in a Bag is a service for the use of book clubs wanting the convenience of a pre-packaged bag complete with 10 copies of a book, a discussion guide and suggested questions and a sign-out sheet for the group leader. We have many titles to choose from, including several that are also suitable for teen clubs.
The individual who checks out the kit is financially responsible for the kit and is responsible for returning all pieces of the kit. General library borrowing rules apply.
How do I get a kit?
You can search the catalogue using the term ‘book club in a bag' for a list of English kits or ‘trousse de club de lecture’ for a list of French kits. Select a title to check its availability. Book Club in a Bag may be sent to your local branch by placing requests in the catalogue, much as any other library material. Library staff can also help you place a request. You cannot reserve a kit for a specific date.
Where do I return the Book Club in a Bag?
You may return Book Club in a Bag in person to any branch of PEI Public Library Service. You cannot return Book Club in a Bag through after-hours book drops. The kit must be intact with all copies included. Incomplete kits will be subject to replacement costs.
How many Book Club in a Bags can I have at a time?
You can have 2 Book Club in a Bag checked out at a time. However you may place requests on more than one kit at a time.
How long can I have a kit?
Book Club in a Bag is checked out for 6 weeks. You cannot renew a Book Club in a Bag.
What if I need more than 10 copies for my club?
Your book club members may find additional copies of titles through the catalogue, either in our fiction, large print collections, or in audiobook format. These additional copies are subject to the normal library lending periods – typically 3 weeks. Visit or phone your local library, or search the catalogue to place requests.
How can I suggest a title to be added to the kits?
We are always interested in feedback on Book Club in a Bag and suggested titles. Fill in a Suggest a Purchase form, adding "book club in a bag" to the suggested title line or send us feedback to plshq@gov.pe.ca if you have any questions or comments about this service.
